I successfully completed week one of student teaching at WVP! While i'm exhausted I have loved every minute of it! At WVP the teachers have teaching assistants which is something that I have never heard of before. My mentor teacher is Mrs. Finley and her assistant is Mrs. Ropp, both were very welcoming and have really made the adjustment an easy one! The classroom that I am in is quite large and has a lot to offer the students. There is a wide variety of learning materials throughout the entire room. There are so many aspects of the room and way that the classroom is run that I find interesting and want to use in my own classroom someday. Below are a few photos of my classroom. There is a bathroom, two sinks and an office in the room as well:Looking into the room from the door.

On my first day I was able to go on a field trip with all of the Kindergarten classes to the Charleston Children's Museum. I was really excited to be able to start a teaching experience in a new way and also to see more of Charleston. The museum was really neat and the children really seemed to enjoy it. On Tuesday I was able to experience a normal day for my students and really tried to take in as much as I could. As the week went on I became more comfortable with the class and eventually started taking over small aspects of the day. On Wednesday and Thursday I read books to the students during carpet time and on Friday I was given free rein to take over the dismissal routine. Below are a few photos from the museum:
